[News] G.NA Teaser. Point in Common with lovers Doojoon - Jinwoon? All former JYP trainees

Singer G.NA has revealed the teaser video that she and 2AM’s Jinwoon had filmed together.

At 10 am on the 14th, CUBE Entertainment released the teaser video for G.NA’s 1st full album ‘Black & White’ on the official fan café and other online video sites.

G.NA held an enthusiastic performance with 2AM’s Jinwoon after her debut song ‘I’ll Back Off So You Can Live’ music video, which she had filmed with Yoon Doojoon. Jinwoon posted a playful tweet on twitter saying “This time around, I’m Gina noona’s boyfriend?”

Before her debut, G.NA was a JYP trainee along with Yoon Doojoon and Jinwoon. The fact that these two people announce that they are transforming into G.NA’s boyfriends every album release shows the work of a long time friendship in action.

Within the 1 minute long teaser, G.NA and Jinwoon enter as lovers and a romantic atmosphere filled the air. These two people loved each other, but after breaking up, they both cried at the thought of beautiful past memories. This scene can remind one of a melodrama.

Especially in the ‘back hug’ scene, where he pulls her in warmly with large snowflakes falling in the background and happiness sinking in, viewers’ hearts become thrilled.

G.NA’s first full album will be released on music sources on the 18th.

[News] Park Myungsoo asked DalShabet Jiyul-Subin to make an appearance on '100 Points out of 100'

Girl group DalShabet recently made an appearance on the Happy Together episode that will air on the 13th. They have successfully made their variety show debut.

Last week, with their song 'Supa Supa Diva', DalShabet members Jiyul and Subin impressed the MCs Yoo Jaesuk and Park Myungsoo with their funny stories and non-rookie like talking abilities. Park Myungsoo even asked them to make an appearance on the other show he is hosting called '100 Points out of 100'.

Jiyul and Subin shared, "It was such an honor to be on a show that we both enjoyed watching with our families. Although we did get nervous in the beginning, we were able to calm down because of the sunbae's acting so comfortably with us."

[News] 4minute's Nam Jihyun continued her activities in Malaysia despite bad health conditions

4Minute, including other co-CUBE Entertainment artists such as BEAST and G.NA, had just finished a successful concert in Malaysia yesterday. However, behind the girls' energetic and fierce performance for the concert, was the unknown condition of 4Minute's Leader, Nam Jihyun, as she has been reportedly suffering from bad health conditions even before they went to Malaysia.

A staff from CUBE said that she started this New Year while gravely suffering from severe colds. It also seemed like her condition got worst the moment they went to Malaysia as her body had a hard time adjusting to the changing weather temperature as they transferred from South Korea to Malaysia. He also said that Jihyun is currently getting some treatments and is trying her best to feel better as soon as possible.

CUBE's representative also revealed that they already recommended Jihyun to take a break with her family to avoid further harm on her health; however, she still insisted on finishing all her responsibilities for she was also worried for the group's performance and enforced that she has to finish what the group has committed of doing.

Meanwhile, the girls of 4Minute are also in their preparations for their upcoming comeback.

Naka Riisa turns into a cute rock ‘n’ roller for meiji’s Valentine’s Day commercial

Just like Lotte, Japanese confectionery company Meiji Seika, or “meiji” for short, will be releasing a Valentine’s Day commercial, and this year it’s going to feature quirky actress Naka Riisa (21).

In the commercial, Naka is going to disguise herself as a “cool and cute” rock ‘n’ roller and take over the pink corridor of a school. With her song, she is aiming to cheer up all the girls who are struggling with making their own chocolate for Valentine’s Day. A total of 17 girl students are following her call in the spot and dance along with her, including the young “CanCam” model Tsuchiya Hazuki and young “SEVENTEEN” model Hashimoto Ai.

Naka herself is wearing flashy pink clothes in the commercial and sports a cute guitar that looks just as if it was made out of meiji milk chocolate. The song goes “chocolate chocolate chocolate wa meiji~” and is catchy enough to stay in your head until Valentine’s Day.

Last year, Hirosue Ryoko and Kinoshita Yukina starred in meiji’s Valentine’s Day commercial and urged all girls to put their feelings into their handmade chocolate, but this year the story actually promotes the idea of just giving your chocolate to a very good friend, which is also known as “tomochoco” (friend chocolate).

After the filming, Naka caused a lot of laughter with a remark that didn’t befit a 21-year-old girl like her. She said, “I haven’t been surrounded by that many young people for a while. They’ve really pepped up the filming.”

The commercial will start airing on January 15th, and of course, we will update you as soon as it is available.

Attaching a photo to the post, Mano wrote:

“Today was something I’ve always wanted to do… I’ve been promising to do it since about 2
years ago. I went to go eat with Lin Lin (*^ー^*) It was late, but I’m so glad we made it happen
(・∪・*) I finally got to tell Lin Lin ‘Congratulations on your graduation!’ in person! Before, when we were next to each other (at graduation), seeing Lin Lin’s face made me cry and I couldn’t say it right (／_＼;)

Ever since Lin Lin and I were Eggs, and stood together on stage for the first time, we’ve been close friends. Because Lin Lin got into Morning Musume, I only got to see her at the summer and winter Hello! Project concerts; but when we had rehearsals, we’d eat together! It had been such a long time since we talked at ease with each other like today – I had so many things to talk about and the conversation just didn’t end (´∀`人) We talked about the first time we met, the first time we did a performance as brand new Eggs, about the Hello! 2NE1’s “Can’t Nobody” ringtones to be released in Japan

AVEX Entertainment, which officially took 2NE1 under its wing last October, recently posted an announcement on its website revealing that three ringtones of 2NE1’s hit track “Can’t Nobody” (English version) is scheduled to be sold in Japan starting next week.

“2NE1’s “CAN’T NOBODY (English Ver.)” will start distributing on Recochoku [a music distribution site] on January 19th,” AVEX announced, explaining that the three ringtones will be the chaku-uta (audio ringtone, which plays like an MP3), chaku-movie (audio-visual ringtone, which plays the song with a MV) and RBT (ringback tone, which plays after a number has been dialed).

Although no official information has been revealed regarding 2NE1’s official debut overseas, this release is one of 2NE1’s first steps into Japan under AVEX. It hasn’t been announced whether the chaku-movie MV will be the Korean version or a new video entirely, but unconfirmed rumors have it that a music video for the English version of “Can’t Nobody” will be released in the future.

“New adult” Tanimura Mitsuki wants to enrich her private life

Today, NHK organized a preview screening of the first episode of the upcoming drama, “Koisuru Nihongo“, starring Yo Kimiko (54).

Supporting actress Tanimura Mitsuki (20) also appeared at the event, wearing a beautiful furisode. A furisode is a long-sleeved kimono “new adults” wear in celebration of the Coming of Age Day. Tanimura turned 20 in June last year, and thus she was also able to celebrate her Coming of Age a few days ago.

Her ambitions as a new adult: “Until now my life has always been about work, but in this year I’d like to enrich my private life more, hoping that it would have a positive effect on my work at the same time.”

Despite her desire to focus on private matters, it all comes back to work after all.

“Koisuru Nihongo” will start on January 20th.

Nami Tamaki recently collaborated with select members of popular Korean boy band ‘Choshinsei’ for her latest single, “Missing You -Time to Love-“. The track was originally a cover of a 2009 K-pop song called “TTL (Time to Love)“, a sassy track between two hot K-pop groups, T-ara and Choshinsei.

[News] Under a minute of BEAST concert ticket sales, the site faces downtime

It has been confirmed that the concert ticket sales site faced a server downtime due to BEAST’s popularity.

There had been an incident were the BEAST encore concert ticket selling sites faced a downtime in their server in only a minute. The ticket sales opened exactly that 8PM KST on the 12th, however due to the influx of the fans, the site had faces downtime.

It only took a minute for the server to go down. This displays the amount of love BEAST had been receiving from their fans. BEAST’s management stated, “We will try to recover it as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, BEAST’s encore concert ‘Welcome BACK to BEAST Airline’ will be held on February 18th and 19th at the Seoul Olympic Gymnasium.

AKB48 members to appear in short drama series, “Sakura Kara no Tegami”

New late-night short drama series “Sakura Kara no Tegami~AKB48 Sorezore no Sotsugyou Monogatari~“, which stars all AKB48 members, will be broadcasted on nine consecutive nights from February 26th to March 6th.

The story will revolve around a male high school teacher (Kamikawa Takaya), who only has three months left to live due to cancer, and his students’ daily lives and conflicts. The drama will be based on the lyrics of AKB48’s upcoming single, “Sakura no Ki ni Narou“, which will be released on February 16th, and it will also be used as its main theme song. Other AKB48 songs will be used in the drama as well.

The main casts will be played by the “media senbatsu” members (#1-#12), the senbatsu members (#13-#21), who will play the sub-cast, and other roles will be played by the “under girls” (#22 on). All the members will be playing roles using their real names, which likely serves the purpose of helping casual fans learn all their names.

Each episode will be 10 minutes long, except for the first and last episodes, which will be 30 and 60 minutes, respectively, and each storyline will be concluded at the end of each episode, but all the plots will be linked together.

It’s been decided the drama will be released on a DVD-BOX, including the making-of, as well as the interview to the members.

Pop singer hitomi has announced that she will be releasing her new single, “Umarete Kurete Arigatou/Smile World“, on February 16th.

This will be her first release in a year and eight months since her “LOVE LIFE 2” album that made waves with its cover of her naked during her pregnancy. The single will be a double A-side that features her song for the Yochien “Kodomomanaka PROJECT“, titled “Umarete Kurete Arigatou“, and also her 50th anniversary theme song for Sanrio’s “GREEEN TOKYO HELLO KITTY & FRIENDS“, called “Smile World.”

Besides the two A-side tracks, there will also be a coupling song called “Song for you☆” on the single. It will be a heartwarming song about hitomi’s hard struggle with being a mother and raising her child.

[News] After School arrived in Taiwan for the first time, fans crowded at the airport

South Korea's beautiful long legged After School came together with Japanese singer Thelma Aoyma in order to film a New Year's Eve special program filming of the "Superstar Red and White Entertainment Awards". They arrived yesterday in Taiwan, where After School fans greeted them with so much enthusiasm and chaos that the members were in shock. So they went to a small restaurant to eat XiaoLongBao and drink bubble tea.

Originally, 7 After School girls were scheduled to come, but only 6 minus Joo Yeon wasn't able to show up. Their company said that she had a fever and was not able to come, but she has tweeted that she is in the middle of filming currently. The scene at the airport was absolute chaos. Fans broke through the security line asking for autographs. Raina smiled and said, "It really did scare us, but we are happy that there are so many fans who support us".

Meanwhile, After School member UEE is in the reality show "We Got Married", which was aired recently in Taiwan. She and actor Park Jae Jung from "You are My Destiny" play fake couples in the illusion of marriage. 30 year old leader Kahi was asked whether their company would allow members to date, she laughed and replied, "My manager is anxious for me to fall in love and get married".

KARA holds press conference for upcoming drama, “URAKARA”

KARA held their first press conference for their upcoming drama, “URAKARA,” at the Tokyo TV studio on January 10th. All of the members were said to have expressed their thoughts in fluent Japanese.

Leader Gyuri revealed, “The drama is about dating, and a variety of different genres are mixed in. Things such as robots appear as well, so fans can look forward to many different things.” Seung Yeon added, “Please watch over us grow not only as singers, but through this drama as well.”

Nicole expressed, “It’s our first drama, so there is a sense of pressure, but we slowly got used to the filming and are now able to have a lot of fun with it.” Goo Hara continued, “Please look forward to the different dating missions all five of us will be accomplishing.”

[News] It's Okay, Daddy's Girl issued warning for content

SBS’s Monday-Tuesday drama It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl has received a warning from the Korea Communications Standards Commission regarding its content, which is, to be fair, veering a little makjang.

At issue is the drama’s provocative content with all its violence, threats, and secret plots that the commission deems excessive for a youthful audience. A few examples: Jeon Tae-soo has the hots for Moon Chae-won, and in his attempt to play the hero, he hires a guy to assault her, intending to save her. When a character dies, the guilty party uses his connections to get off scot-free and pin it on someone else. People are paid off and sent away. And so on.

While that excessive content was cited by the commission, in my opinion Daddy’s Girl is really so mild that none of those issues are all that edgy or dark, really. The problem is partially that dramas in that timeslot (9 pm rather than 10 pm like other prime-time dramas) are more sensitive to controversial content because they’re on earlier, but seriously,Daddy’s Girl is tame. There has been FAR worse content in shows with similar timeslots, likeWife’s Temptation and its spinoff, Angel’s Temptation. There we had rape, revenge, and suicide, to name a few quintessential makjang elements.

On top of that, Daddy’s Girl has received the complaint that there is too much product placement, with almost all of the cast possessing techie gadgets that look right out of a sales catalog. Sometimes those are even accompanied by a few lines of dialogue indicating the nifty special features built into the machines.

Meanwhile, the drama has been extended for one episode, bringing the total to 17 episodes. Originally slated for 16, the show got off-schedule in its first week due to a broadcast pre-emption, and this move is to even out its finale week.

[News] New girl group Dal★Shabet is named after a children's story book

A growing number of netizens are protesting against a new girl group who appear to be using the title of a children’s book for their name.

The book’s author is none too pleased with the new six-member group that has begun appearing in magazines and on national TV this month.

Baek Hee-na, author of the book “Dal Sherbet” has been highly praised for her creative storyline and pictures. “Dal Sherbet” — “Dal” being the Korean word for “moon” — is a story about a grandmother who makes sherbet out of a moon. Not long after release, the book’s popularity soared among children, recording sales of 28,000 copies in four months.

The group, who make public appearances wearing little white skirts, are going by the slightly altered spelling of “Dal Shabet.”

Baek, who spent more than four years working on “Dal Sherbet,” expressed dismay via Twitter. Baek stated that, after the release of her book, she received a call from an entertainment agency asking for permission to use the title to name the new group. Baek claimed that she turned them down.

“They are trying to use the title of a children’s book to name a sexy girl group. ‘Dal Sherbet’ isn’t a name of an ice cream or a coffee shop. It is a title of a creative picture book for Korean children. Even if this is not an illegal act, this is immoral and unconscionable behavior.”

Baek has since erased her comments from Twitter but, by Dec. 30, 926 netizens had joined a group trying to stop Dal Shabet from using the name.

Dal Shabet’s agency, Happy Face Entertainment, admitted on Dec. 30 to having contacted Baek regarding the use of the title.

However, the agency said that using the name Dal Shabet is fully legal and the two meanings are different. It claimed that “Dal Sherbet” describes “moon and sherbet” while “Dal Shabet” means “sweet sherbet.”

YUI’s “It’s My Life” PV to feature ORESKABAND

YUI updated her blog with some exciting news for both her own fans and ska fanatics!

Her latest single, “It’s My Life / Your Heaven” is scheduled for release on January 26th, but it looks like a PV is already in the works. In her message, YUI revealed:

“Yesterday I did the filming for the “It’s My Life” music video! This time, the horn group ORESKABAND came and participated~ I had so much fun with everybody!”

For those of you who may not know ORESKABAND, they’re an all-female ska band whose signature happy-pop-ska sound have made them quite popular in the J-ska realm. The group previously collaborated with Acid Black Cherry for his hit song, “Black Cherry.”

Judging by this collaboration, fans can expect to hear the ska band in YUI’s newest single.

Yamashita Tomohisa visits Thailand to promote his solo Asia tour

You can add Chun Jung-myung to the list of stars breaking off on their own to form their own management companies, as he has announced his intention to go solo with his longtime manager.

There’s always speculation of a big star going this route when he nears the end of his/her contract with an existing company, since once an actor amasses enough clout, it’s beneficial for himself to manage his career on his own (and bring in more money). Those who have done so in recent years include Song Seung-heon and Choi Ji-woo; some actors who made the jump years ago currently enjoy additional careers as management CEOs for rising talents. Those include Bae Yong-joon with BOF and Keyeast, and Lee Byung-heon with BH Entertainment.

Chun’s rep said in an interview on the 6th, “After his contract ended with his previous agency, he thought about which direction to go in, and decided to start his own company. Chun was last seen (though sadly wasted) in last year’s KBS drama Cinderella’s Sister, and is busily preparing for his new drama, an MBC Monday-Tuesday offering, The Duo. Co-starring Lee Sang-yoon and Han Ji-hye, the fusion sageuk series unfolds around two men who were switched at birth and lived each other’s wildly disparate lives — one as a poor slave, one as a nobleman.

Takahashi Ai, the current leader of Morning Musume, has announced her graduation from the Hello! Project group just a little while ago. The news was posted on the official Hello! Project site, and it says that she will graduate from Morning Musume and Hello! Project after the 2011 Fall Tour.

Takahashi said that when Kamei Eri, Lin Lin, and Jun Jun graduated, Tsunku told her that she should think about when she wants to graduate as well. She figured that since it’s been 10 years in Morning Musume (including being a leader for a while), and since she watched over the other members, it would be a nice time to graduate at the end of the tour.

It’s a bit of odd timing since Morning Musume just added four new members, which seemed to gain fan momentum, and they now are losing one of the most popular members in 8-9 months or so. Nevertheless, Takahashi urged fans not to worry and be at ease because they are nine strong for now

Fukuda Saki talks about her hard-boiled image in the drama “Quartet”

Today, TBS held a press conference for their upcoming night drama “Quartet“, starring Fukuda Saki and Matsushita Yuya.

Fukada had to undergo quite a transformation for her very first role as hard-boiled young woman, as she graces the screen in a full-body tattoo, piercings, and blond hair. “It feels like a whole different me. You can see a Fukada Saki you have never seen before,” she spoke enthusiastically about her role.

“Quartet” is a crime-action drama based on the universe of a novel of the same name by Osawa Arimasa, but with an entirely new story. It focuses on 3 young people with a truly scattered past and a person from the police that hired them to infiltrate a huge crime organization.

It is Fukada’s first drama in which she has to make use of weapons. She said, “I’ve never even hit a person and was really nervous, but I’ve trained it a lot.” About the appearance of her role she added, “At first it felt really uncomfortable, but it was interesting to become a completely different person. People around me even have told me that I look good with the blond hair.” Further she revealed that it takes 3 and a half hour to create her full-body tattoo, but she knows that it is all for the sake of the authenticity of her play. She said, “It is a very important element for transforming into my role. The tattoo is like a switch.”

For her co-star, R&B singer Matsushita, it is the very first time he has appeared in a drama. “It is my absolute first time, but I’m having a lot of fun.” About Fukuda he said, “During the filming it is no problem, but during the breaks it is still difficult for me to have eye contact with a girl. I never know where to look whenever the camera isn’t rolling.”

Fukuda has noticed the same thing. “During the filming we really are on the same wavelength, but unfortunately it is still getting awkward as soon as the camera is gone.” She added, “We actually have a lot in common, we are of the same age, we act and we both sing.”

For the rest of the month the team is going to Taiwan to film a couple of scenes there and both of the actors hope that they will be able to get more comfortable with each other while being abroad.

As mentioned a month ago, Kamikawa Takaya and Natsuna are going to complete the quartet.

“Quartet” is going to premier on January 18th and air every night from Tuesday to Wednesday at 1 am.

Previously, we reported that Hey! Say! JUMP members Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuri would be appearing on “Waratte Iitomo!“, and we recently found the video of their appearance! They made their appearance on the corner of “Telephone Shocking“, and had a talk with the main host, Tamori.

The boys talked about how they ended up entering Johnny’s Entertainment, the way they spend their days off, etc. They introduced Kanjani8’s Yokoyama Yu as the next guest (for next Monday) on “Telephone Shocking”, as the guest of the day has to name the next guest on the “Telephone Shocking”.

Nihon TV’s upcoming drama, ”Deka Wanko” held a press conference recently to introduce the cast and characters before its official airing on January 15th.

To give a brief run down, actress Tabe Mikako plays the leading role of ‘Ichiko Hanamori’, a detective who wears frilly lolita outfits and solves cases with her phenomenal sense of smell. ‘Ichiko’ works alongside two detectives, ‘Ryuta Kirishima’ (NEWS‘ Tegoshi Yuya) and ‘Kanichi Shigemura’ (Sawamura Ikki).

At the press conference, Tabe was asked who smelt the best amongst her castmates. She revealed, “Tegoshi-san. I think it’s a smell of softener or body cream, and whenever he passes by, he smells nice. On the other hand, Sawamura-san…smells like alcohol.”

Nishino Kana recently updated her blog with pictures of her New Year’s vacation and a retelling of some of her adventures.

“It’s been a while since I’ve hung out with my mom just mother and daughter, so we made a trip to a destination we love– Paris!! It’s the first time we’ve taken a trip with just the two of us in seven or eight years. We made plans to visit our favorite places, but a nice tour guide put together a schedule for us. Even though it was a ‘bullet tour,’ we went to a lot of places and made memories.”

Kana says she visited the Palace of Versailles, Mont Saint Michel, the Arc de Triumph, and the Eiffel Tower, but most of all she was able to spend some much-needed quality time with her mom.

Fans were touched, responding, “You look so happy in those pictures,” “What a nice family trip,” and “I wish I could go to Paris, I hope you had fun.”

Super Junior Eunhyuk has been reported to have visited TVXQ last night at KBS Music Bank. He made a surprising appearance in Yunho and Changmin’s waiting room. Eunhyuk left from his radio show (Sukira) earlier than usual to greet his seniors and watch them perform their comeback stage.

The other Super Junior members, except for Eunhyuk, were unable to to greet the duo due to their own promotional and individual activities. An SM entertainment representatives said, “Even with all the schedules, they called and texted U-know Yunho and Max Changmin to congratulate them, and other celebrities called them as well. They must have gotten a lot of strength from that.”

PUFFY to release new album and single for 15th anniversary

This year, pop duo PUFFY will be celebrating their 15th anniversary with the release of a new single: “Happy Birthday” on February 9th, along with a new album: “Thank You!,” on March 9th.

The duo originally debuted with the Okuda Tamio producing the joint single: “Asia no Jyunshin” on May 13th 1996. Their new single album “Happy Birthday” will be in celebration of their 15th anniversary and will feature the title tracks: Eskimo “MOW” CM song “Banzai!,” as well as “Gingakei Drive“; recorded during their 2009 tour.

“Happy Birthday” will be released in regular CD and limited edition first print versions, and the limited edition copy will come with a DVD that contains footage from their 2010 summer tour at the Hitomi Memorial Hall.

The new album “Thank You!” will express the gratitude for their success that the two members feel. It will also be released in CD regular and limited first print editions. The limited edition will retail at 3939 yen and more details on its bonus features will be released at a later date.

On top of all the new releases coming out from PUFFY this spring they will also be going on tour from April through May. The “PUFFY 15th Anniversary Tour ‘Thank You!‘” kicks off at the Osaka Nanba Hatch on April 2nd and runs until May 14th at the Tokyo Hibiya Outdoor Music Hall.

HALCALI’s YUCALI tweets additional info on upcoming “TOKYO CONNECTION”

We reported earlier that HALCALI was preparing to release their new mini album “TOKYO CONNECTION” on February 9th and already had their track “Marching March (80KIDZ Remix)” picked up as the Nissan March CM song. Now thanks to YUCALI’s tweets the hip-hop duo has released even more information about the album and CM.

YUCALI recently tweeted the cover art for the new album:

“NEW MINI ALBUM ‘TOKYO CONNECTION’ jacket art is finally released. Last year in May the TOKYO GROOVE album had dolls on it and this time we return with American comic-style cover art. ♡ Check it out!”

YUCALI tweeted again the second Nissan updated their website for the MARCH car to contain their new commercial with the “Marching March” CM song. Oricon predicts KARA to be the number one breakout artist of 2011

A survey in weekly publication Ori☆Sta asked 500 members of the Oricon Monitor Research committee who they felt would get their lucky break in 2011, and K-pop fans will be pleased to hear the news.

Coming in at number one was none other than star rookies KARA, a Korean girl group whose famous “butt dance” even had Miura Haruma shaking his behind. Second place went to Shoujo Jidai, better known by Korean fans as SNSD. Both KARA and Shoujo Jidai dominated the end of 2010 with their catchy tunes, knocking off a six-year record and stealing the titles of highest-selling newcomers on the Oricon year-end charts.

Third place went to AKB48’s sister group SKE48. SMAP came in at fourth, and flumpool came in fifth.

Rie Fu announces live performance and PV for new single, “For You”

Singer/songwriter Rie Fu announced through her blog that she was going to host a surprise live!

Rie Fu’s created a new song titled “For You”, as the ending theme song for the upcoming anime, “Hourou Musuko.” The anime begins broadcasting on January 13th, but the singer wants to give fans a preview of the new song through the “Anime Seisaku Happyou UStream Event.” Fans can tune in to her “raw live” on January 7th, 8 PM JST.

“For You” will also have a music video, and although no specific release date was given, Rie Fu divulged several details about the director, set, and her feelings about the PV.

“We completed the filming of the ‘For You’ music video at the end of the year. A lovely bus, your typical road movie, a dance I’ve been dying to do, a noisy band cameo, and all sorts of other details. Your senses will be so stimulated. It’s a clip about me, one with a fresh atmosphere.

Since Mr. Director recorded my lives before, and I really loved his style, I’m so glad he created it for me~! Everyone who came together for this collaboration, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.“

The PV will promote her new single of the same title, which will be released on February 16th.

Last year, R&B artist Shimizu Shota was chosen to be one of three representatives for Sony’s Walkman campaign, “Play you. ‘Kimi no Siranai oto project’“.

The song in the CM, “YOU & I“, will be Shimizu’s new single that is set to release on January 26th. The coupling song will be “Kimi no koe” and the acoustic version of “Kimi ga suki” from his 2009 single. It will also include the PV for “Kimi ga kurasu machi“.

Group BEAST’s Yang Yoseob made sure that the netizens will halt the hateful comments.

On the 7th, Yang Yoseob posted via his personal twitter towards the fans, “The scars that I received from the someone who had randomly spat out some comments still hasn’t healed. This probably doesn’t only apply to me, but others as well. No matter what the method is, someone should never have to inflect such deep scars on another person.”

On January 15th, NHK will broadcast a documentary program, “Utada Hikaru~Ima no Watashi~“, which features the activities of Utada Hikaru (who is currently on hiatus) right before she went on hiatus. This will be her very last appearance on terrestrial TV.

The documentary will show her latest studio performance, and they will also show some part of her last concert before hiatus, which was held at Yokohama Arena on December 2010. They will introduce her songs, such as “First Love”, “Goodbye Happiness”, “Show Me Love (Not A Dream)”, and “Prisoner of Love.”

It will also include Utada having a talk with Chris Peppler (talent, narrator, and well known as the navigator of the radio show, J-WAVE “TOKIO HOT 100″), who Utada knows well, in which she pours out her heart to Chris. The talk with Chris was held after her last concert at Yokohama Arena.

Are Ueto Aya and EXILE’s HIRO living together?

Tabloid magazine “FRIDAY” has revealed a new development in the unofficial relationship between actress Ueto Aya (25) and EXILE’s leader HIRO (41).

The infamous weekly tabloid has updated their readers with some photos documenting Aya’s frequent visits to Hiro’s apartment. Furthermore, they’ve discovered that Ueto has recently moved into the same apartment complex as Hiro, which would consequently make it easier for her to drop by his place.

Her agency was quick to deny the rumors of the stars living together, as they’ve said:“It is true that our agency has rented this room, but that doesn’t mean that Ueto herself is going to be living there. Other talents from our agency can use it as well.” They concluded with the standard comment when pressed about Aya’s rumored relationship with the singer: “We wholly leave private matters to the individual concerned.”

HIRO’s agency, on the other hand, has made a comment to the press that left a lot of room for speculation. “Both of them are supporting each other in various ways, and they are both in positions with a certain social responsibility. We would like to make an official statement as soon as we have prepared all the necessary information. We hope that you will be so kind to oblige us and watch over us until then.”

Hiro’s agency ended up creating a new rumor about a possible engagement and upcoming marriage, just by stating that they needed more time to prepare an official statement in regards to their relationship. Of course, everyone could be jumping the gun by inferring too much from the comment, but then again, HIRO’s agency could have made a neutral statement just like Ueto’s agency if the rumors were absolutely untrue.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced the winners of “The 25th Japan Gold Disc Award” on January 5th, and Arashi has received the “Artist of the Year” distinction for two consecutive years!

Aside from “Artist of the Year”, Arashi also received five other awards, including “Album of the Year”.

“Toilet no Kamisama” tops charts again thanks to the “Kouhaku Effect”

The success of the award-winning 9 minutes and 52 seconds-long song, “Toilet no Kamisama“, simply doesn’t want to end, not even in 2011.

On New Year’s Eve, singer-songwriter Uemura Kana had the honor of performing an 8-minute version of her hit song at the “61st NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen“, the longest ever performance of a single song in the music festival. While there were many music fans in Japan who knew the song and were eagerly anticipating its performance, there still many others who were introduced to the song for the very first time.

Unsurprisingly, the music fans who were exposed to the song for the very first time must have been overwhelmed by its touching lyrics, and flocked to download portals to purchase it digitally. Consequently “Toilet no Kamisama” has once again reached first place on major download portals for the daily chart of January 3rd, 6 months after its actual release. The industry has labelled this jump in interest as the “Kouhaku Effect“.

Today, Uemura turned 28 and held a special birthday concert in her hometown. At the event she expressed her gratitude towards her new fans. “Thank you for downloading such a long song,” she said. She also described her recent experiences in relation to the ‘Kouhaku effect’: “People call out my name on the street or take pictures in front of my home. All because of Kouhaku. I was really surprised.”

As a homage to her song, Uemura has been sincerely cleaning her toilet and visited her grandmother’s grave on New Year’s. “This year I want to go to a lot of places and let everyone in the country listen to the live version of the song,” she added enthusiastically.

Momoiro Clover’s first shrine visit of 2011

Today the idol group “Momoiro Clover” have participated in their first shrine visit of the New Year at the Gokoku-ji temple in Tokyo and prayed for the success of their new song “Mirai Bowl” as well as the opportunity to appear at the much ballyhooed musical festival Kouhaku at the end of the year. The first shrine visit of the the New Year (“Hatsumoude”) is a traditional procedure in Japan and the 6 girls dressed up in beautiful kimonos for the occasion.

They wrote on the ema, the small wooden board to write your prayers on with, “This year we are definitely going to appear on Kouhaku Uta Gassen!!!” . Leader Momoto Kanako also expressed her own personal goal for 2011: “I want to perform acrobatics that are going to surprise everyone! The whole country shall turn pink (momoiro)!!”

It has also been decided that the group will be going on a nationwide tour and perform a total of 44 concerts in 14 different regions. The first concert is going to take place at Zepp Osaka on January 22nd. On April 10th they are even going to perform at the Nakano Sunplaza.

Further their new single “Mirai Bowl”, that will be used as the theme song for the anime “Dragon Crisis“, will go on sale on March 9th.

A busy and exciting year 2011 seems to await the colorful girls of Momoiro Clover.

[News] The reason for Sunny's tears on 'Come To Play'

Sunny talked about how her parents were concerned because of her adolescent-like attitude which only came after debut.

On MBC’s ‘Come To Play’ aired on January 3rd, Sunny confessed, “I did not go through adolescence. Indeed, there was no adolescent rebellion”.

Sunny elaborated, “My adolescent-like attitude only came after debut which became quite an issue. One day, my sister gave me a call from US. She said, ‘mom and dad wanted to punish you but they decided not to’. After seeing me working so hard, mom and dad just could not get themselves to reveal it to me although it was upsetting for them”.

Sunny added, “When mom and dad noticed what I have gone through, they felt the pain inside them”. After revealing her touching story, tears came rolling down Sunny’s cheeks.

Hey!Say! JUMP holds first 2011 live at Yokohama Arena

Boy band Hey!Say! JUMP held their first solo concert for 2011 at Yokohama Arena on January 2nd. Performing for the third year in a row at that venue, the concert was a stop in their live tour, “Hey!Say! JUMP ‘Arigatou’~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~ WINTER CONCERT 2010~2011“, which spans 3 cities and 16 stages.

Impressively, the concert at Yokohama Arena – two stages, one day – pulled in a total audience figure of 30,000. Fans were delighted as Hey!Say! JUMP delivered 20 songs, including their latest track, “Arigatou~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~.”

During the concert, Yabu Kota remarked, “Since this is the year of rabbit in Chinese astrology, I want to jump more like a rabbit! I also want to have our own show this year.” Building on that, fellow member Nakajima Yuto expressed his ambition and hoped for a world tour.

It could be that both Yuto and Kota will see their dreams come true, as Johnny Kitagawa, the president of JE, quipped, “It’s almost time for them to challenge Asia.” Could we expect a grand announcement of a world tour soon??

In the meantime, the boys will continue on with their live tour, which will wrap up on January 16th.

An AKB48 special New Year’s Day program for fans!

AKB48 participated in a special program titled, “Akemashite AKB! 2011 nen mo Gachi de Ikimasu, Name de Haregi de Zenin Shugou Daishinnenkai Special“, which was broadcasted live via Nihon TV on New Year’s Day.

On the show, AKB48 performed their “Best Hit Medley” in kimonos, and the members divided into teams in order to battle for the privilege of tasting delicious Japanese dishes.

SNSD made a cameo appearance on Japan’s drama ‘Sazae-san Season 3′ which was aired on Fuji TV on January 2nd. The girls appeared as caddies on a golf course.

SNSD appeared in Nami Hara’s dream where the main star struck a hole-in-one and the beautiful caddies (SNSD) ran up to him and cheered, “wonderful”, “sugoi(amazing)” and “nice shot”.

With lively gestures and expressions, the girls introduced themselves, “We are Shoujo Jidai” and revealed their dreams by saying, “We want to be singing and dancing stars”. Upon hearing that, the leading male character in the drama gave them a big cheer.

Although it was only a brief and short appearance on the drama, the name ‘Shoujo Jidai’ left a very deep impression in the minds of Japanese viewers.

‘Sazae-san’ is adapted from one of Japan’s popular ‘national animation’ of the same name. Due to the overwhelming response for Season 1 and 2, ‘Sazae-san season 3′ is currently being aired to fulfill the viewers’ high demand.

[News] Jang Hyuk scores top prize at KBS Drama Awards

Korean actor Jang Hyuk won the top prize at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards, held at the KBS Open Hall on December 31.

Jang received the grand prize of the year for his role as Dae-gil in the historical series "The Slave Hunters," making it his first award at a year-end ceremony.

"My heart is beating really fast right now and I want to thank director Gwak Jeong-hwan, scenarist Chun Sung-il and my co-stars Sung Dong-il, Lee Da-hae and Oh Ji-ho," said Jang in his acceptance speech.

He went on to say, "It's already been 15 years since I started acting and I want to thank everyone at my agency and turn the honor to my parents, my wife and son."

"The Slave Hunters" also scored wins in five categories including Kim Gap-soo and Oh Ji-ho first and second prizes for best actor, respectively, Sung Dong-il for best supporting actor and Jang Hyuk and Lee Da-hae for best couple.

Other honorable mentions that night were "SungKyunKwan Scandal" which took home five awards and this year's highest viewership ratings-scorer "Bread, Love and Dreams," which collected six awards.

[News] Ko Hyun Jung wins grand prize at SBS Drama Awards

Korean actress Ko Hyun-jung received the grand prize at major broadcaster SBS' year-end drama awards ceremony held on the last day of 2010.

At the SBS Drama Awards held at the SBS Open Hall on Friday, Ko was awarded the top acting honor for her role in "The President" in which she played Seo Hae-rim, about one woman's rise to become the first female president in the country.

"I want to thank and send out my love to the audience for watching the show and I will now step out of my character [as the president] and work hard in becoming a better actress. Happy New Year and thank you so much," said Ko in her acceptance speech.

First prize acting awards were handed to actor Kwon Sang-woo ("The President") and Hyun Bin and Ha Ji-won ("Secret Garden").

Series "Giant" was the big winner of the night, sweeping a total 14 awards in eight categories including best drama, best couple and three Top Ten Star awards.

The ceremony featured musical performances by several ensemble casts including Nam Gyu-ri, Han Chae-ah and Super Junior member Choi Si-won.

L’Arc-en-Ciel reveals their 20th anniversary projects

2011 marks the 20th anniversary of rock band L’Arc-en-Ciel, and to mark the special occasion, the group delivered three special announcements over the weekend.

Over the year, L’Arc-en-Ciel plans to release 3 best albums, a new DVD box, and perform another special anniversary concert in May.

Their three ‘best-of’ albums – “TWENITY 1991-1996“, “TWENITY 1997-1999“, and “TWENITY 2000-2010” – will be released on February 16th, and contain all their hit songs since the group’s debut back in 1991. Fans who wish to buy all three albums can wait for a special “TWENITY BOX” that will be available on March 9th. The box will also contain a special DVD.

Another DVD box called “FIVE LIVE ARCHIVES 2” will be released at the end of March, and continues from where their 15th anniversary DVD had left off. The box contains a total of five discs, each featuring five concerts, including their 1999 Osaka open air tour “1999 GRAND CROSS TOUR” and their LIQUIDROOM (Tokyo) performance from the 2005 arena tour, “AWAKE TOUR 2005″.

Furthermore, the group plans to hold two anniversary live concerts at the Tokyo Stadium on May 28th and 29th. It’ll their first time performing at this venue.

The tracklists for the best albums and details about the concert have yet to be released, so stay tuned to tokyohive for updates!

Asia Today have identified Korea Republic’s ‘50 Power Leaders in 2011‘ who are capable of improving the nation’s global competitiveness.

Out of the 50 leaders selected, 19 are from the industrial sector, 14 are politicians, 12 from the social and cultural sector and 5 people were selected from the financial sector.

There were only two artistes listed in the top 50. One of them is Kolleen Park and the other is none other than the 9 angels who achieved great success in Korea and Japan, SNSD. They are also the only girl group who managed to get onto the list as well.
